Description:
Discover nature around you even in the depths of winter! The Belle River in Columbus County Park is teaming with life, and we're digging in to explore it. Join Friends of the St.Clair River at our first public Winter Stonefly Search. Unlike most insects, winter stoneflies prefer the coldest months of the year to complete their life cycles to avoid predators. They're sensitive to pollution and can give us a glimpse into the health of a waterway.
Participants should plan on bringing waterproof boots and/or waders, gloves, and other appropriate cold-weather gear.
All ages welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.
